Day 3: The Dangerous Lie!

Because GOD IS TOTALLY TRUTHFUL, I can trust what the Bible says is true, and live by it.

Read or quote the memory verse.

NOTE: This lesson is designed to help your children understand that the enemy (Satan) wants to plant a seed of doubt regarding God's truthfulness in our hearts. Have a piece of paper, a pencil, and a ruler or straight edge ready. They will help you illustrate the danger of a lie. ALSO: You may certainly use all of the following verses, but if there are too many, then focus on the one or two that you think are best for your child.

Because God is Totally Truthful, all His promises are YES in Christ! He never breaks a promise! But the enemy of God (Satan) wants you to believe his lie instead of God's truth.

What do you think Satan's lie is? (Satan's lie is that God won't come through on His promises, or that God breaks His promises, or that He doesn't always mean them.)

God gives us thousands of promises in the Bible. Let's look at some of them.

Lets read 2 Corinthians 1:20.

All of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!"Discover God Bible, (NLT).

What is God's promise in this verse? (God keeps ALL of His promises!)

NOTE: Put a dot on the paper and draw a straight line out from it. Tell your child that the dot represents the truth that God keeps all His promises.

What lie do you think Satan would want you to believe about this promise? (Satan wants us to think that God only keeps SOME of His promises, but God says that He keeps ALL of them.)

NOTE: Put a dot close to the first one but down the line a bit and slightly to the left. This line represents the lie that God keeps most, but not all, of His promises. Now draw a line from the first dot, through the second one and on to the edge of the paper.

This is what happens when we believe a little lie about God. It takes us far away from the truth.

(You can choose from the following verses to reinforce the above project.)

Proverbs 30:5 says:

Every word of God proves true . . . Discover God Bible, (NLT).

What is God's promise in this verse? (Everything He says is true!)

What lie do you think Satan would want you to believe about this promise? (Not everything God says is true. The Bible isn't totally accurate.)

1 Timothy 2:3 and 4 says:

This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. Discover God Bible, (NLT).

What does God promise He wants in this verse? (God wants EVERYONE to be saved and understand the truth!)

What lie do you think Satan would want you to believe about this promise? (God doesn't want you. You aren't good enough to be God's child. You've done too many bad things.)

Isaiah 41:13 says:

I hold you by your right hand -- I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, "don't be afraid...I am here to help you." Isaiah 41:13, Discover God Bible, (NLT).

What does God promise in this verse? (He will help us!)

What lie do you think Satan would want you to believe about this promise? (You should be afraid. God may or may not help you. You can't be sure.)

Psalm 32:8 says:

The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you."Discover God Bible, (NLT).

What is God's promise in this verse? (He will guide your life and take care of you!)

What lie do you think Satan would want you to believe about this promise? (God is too busy to help you. What makes you think you're so important that He'll take the time to care for you?)

Why does it matter?

Because God is Totally Truthful, you can count on every promise He makes to be true.

Because God is Totally Truthfu,l you can ignore the lies that say otherwise.
