Part 1: God Will Never Change!

Because GOD NEVER CHANGES, I don't have to worry about the future!

Read or quote the memory verse.

It's hard to imagine someone who never changes. We change our clothes, our shoe size, our toys (play cars to real ones!), our friends, and our age! We even change our mind! Can you think of how many other things we change?

We're surrounded by things that change! Some change fast, some change slowly, but everything is changing! Everything, that is, except God!

Listen to the words to a song about change:

Never Changes

A caterpillar wraps himselfbutterflies-vector-2-8.jpg
In a comfortable and cozy cocoon,
But while he is hiding --
There's somethin' changin' deep inside,
'Cause when he breaks out,
He's a beautiful butterfly!

Everything changes, nothin' stays the same,
Whether I like it or not.
Everything changes day after day,
And I'm so glad I can say --
The God of the Bible will always,
Stay the same.

When I was a baby, Momma had to
Carry me wherever we would go,
But I was always changin',
Growing bigger and stronger everyday.
Look at me now,
I can run and play!

Everything changes, nothin' stays the same,
Whether I like it or not.
Everything changes, day after day,
And I'm so glad I can say,
That yesterday, today and forever --
GOD WILL NEVER CHANGE!"

In 30 seconds, let's name as many characteristics about God that will never change. (His power, holiness, love, everywhere, truthfulness, mercy, knowledge, always right, faithfulness, creator king, and just.)

Let's read what the Bible says in Hebrews 1:11,12:

They [the Earth and Heavens] will perish, but You will remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing... But You are always the same; You will live forever. Discover God Bible, (NLT).

The verse says that all other things get old and wear out, but what about God? (He stays the same!)

Now listen to James 1:17 :

Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. Discover God Bible, (NLT).

What does God never do? (God nevers changes!)

Now let's read Hebrews 13:8 :

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Discover God Bible, (NLT).

Would you like it if you never changed? Why/Why not?

Do you think it's a good thing that God never changes? Why/Why not?

If God did change, it would have a huge effect on His other attributes!

Choose two of God's attributes (your favorites) and let's talk about what would happen if that attribute ever changed.

God is a Personal Spirit (If God changed, He could decide He doesn't want a relationship with you.)

God is the Biggest and Strongest, All Powerful (If God changed, He could become weak.)

God is Perfect and Clean, Holy (If God changed, He would no longer be perfect.)

God is Love (If God changed, He could decide not to love, or to love with conditions.)

God is Everywhere (If God changed, He wouldn't be everywhere all the time. You couldn't count on Him being with you always.)

God is Totally Truthful (If God changed, He could tell a lie.)

God is Merciful (If God changed, He could choose if or when to show mercy.)

God Knows Everything (If God changed, He wouldn't know everything. He could forget things.)

God is Always Right - Righteous (If God changed, He could do something wrong.)

God is Faithful (If God changed, He could break His promises.)

God is Creator/King (If God changed, He could lose control of His creation.)

God is Just (If God changed, He could be unfair.)

Why it matters?

Because God Never Changes, you never have to worry that any of His attributes will change. You can count on each of them, no matter what!

Thank God that He never changes and that you can count on Him to be the same yesterday, today, and forever.
